Lakeside Cottage Renovation

Project: The Point Cottages
Location: Pleasant Lake, NH

This award-winning cottage renovation was designed and built with minimal site impacts as a goal. The project consisted of a complete renovation of a lakeside lot with a delightful west-facing beach. A  complete site assessment was completed for the homeowners before the property was bought to ensure the visions and needs of the owners could be realized. The landscape for this cottage was designed to accommodate a future main lake house while simultaneously working well with the newly renovated cabin, and was the majority part of the construction budget. Both came together harmoniously to create a beautiful indoor environment that extends out of doors and melds seamlessly into the existing surroundings. Large granite steps are used to provide access to the beach and boat dock, and native existing boulders are placed to retain grade alongside steps. The stepping stone walkways allow visitors to roam around the property from the parking area to the beach. New landscape plantings incorporated native and naturalized plant materials including birch trees, serviceberry,  low and high bush blueberries, ferns, hostas, geraniums and other native New Hampshire plants.

Awards:  AIA New Hampshire 2011 Merit Award and People’s Choice Award, 2011 Cornerstone Award from NH Home Builders Association.
