Lake Sunapee residence: stone patio with fireplace
By Erin | Published: January 25th, 2010This Lake Sunapee residence needed an outdoor living area, access to the front door from the driveway, and access down to the lake. An existing series of decks provided access to the water but needed to be replaced. A large ledgestone patio was constructed in fall ‘09. The patio includes a gas fireplace- a gas line was run under the patio. A series of steps and a stone path lead to the reconstructed dock. The next phase of this project will include planting trees, shrubs, and perennials to compliment the new hardscape.
Stone paving and landscape lighting, winter
By Erin | Published: January 22nd, 2010Phase one of this project was installed this fall. dbLandscaping has installed an entryway paved in granite cobblestone inlaid with ledgestone. Large, flat-topped boulders were placed for seating. Grading at this site was extensive- a deck that originally reached the ground by staircase is now almost at-grade. Machine-laid retaining walls helped to create more useable landscape space on what was previously a steep slope. Gardens were planted throughout the landscape. Plants in front of the house, under the eaves, were specially chosen for their ability to handle heavy snow loads.
Perennial plantings this spring will add more color and texture to the landscape.
Stone masonry and paving
By Erin | Published: January 22nd, 2010This project required stone masonry work on the outside of the house as well as stand-alone wall and pillar features. Stone pillars are used to support landscape lighting fixtures. A space for an outdoor kitchen was also built into a stone wall. dbLandscaping employs skilled, experienced stone masonry artists. The next phase of the project will include planting gardens to compliment the new stonework.
Lakefront property: boat house permitting and project leadership
By admin | Published: January 21st, 2010This project involves both Wetland and Shoreland Protection permitting with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services. An existing, dilapidated boat house must be rebuilt to be useable. dbLandscaping created a landscape design that connects the boat house to the adjacent hillside through a series of steps and a stone patio with surrounding garden. A planting plan featuring native plants will add beauty and interest to this lakeside retreat. The owners of this property will soon be able to enjoy access to the lake.
